GEM Construction Backs National Silica Dust Campaign

GEM Construction is proud to support the Health and Safety Authority’s (HSA) Silica Dust Campaign, which highlights the serious health risks associated with silica dust exposure on construction sites.

As part of the campaign, HSA inspectors Kevin Kavanagh and Tanya McCartney visited our Churchfield construction site, focusing on high-risk activities such as cutting, grinding, drilling, and demolition — all common sources of hazardous silica dust.

To protect our workforce and promote industry best practices, GEM Construction has implemented robust dust control measures, including:

• Water suppression systems

• On-tool dust extraction

• Dust containment methods

• Proper use of Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
